Happy 2018 and welcome back to my blog!! It feels like forever since I’ve sat down and written a blog post (probably because it has been!), but I figured what better way to start off the new year than with a little bit of an update blog post for you all?! I thought that the best way to update you would be to give you a little mini-recap of each month since my last blog post. Here we go!
July 2017- In July, I had the absolutely amazing opportunity to travel to Mexico on a missions trip. I can’t even begin to describe how intensely eye-opening it was and how many new things I was able to experience. It was an experience that changed my life, and I definitely foresee many more missions trips in my future 🙂
August 2017- August brought the start of many new things, including starting dual credit classes at Ivy Tech Community College. It was a big transition for me to be doing college classes while still in my senior year, but I’m so glad to have the opportunity to kill two birds with one stone and get a head start on my career.
September 2017- In September, I celebrated my 17th birthday! I am so blessed to have been surrounded by so much love and support for all 17 years of my life, and I am ever so grateful for every friend and family member who has shaped me into the person I am today ❤
October 2017- October was a great month, and I was able to take part in some truly amazing things. Towards the end of the month, I attended the Indiana State Youth Convention with my youth group and all I can say is that God is so good. Throughout the short weekend, I saw countless prayers answered and lives changed, and it is a weekend that I will never forget.
November 2017- November was a month full of gratitude and celebration. From fall parties with great friends to Thanksgiving dinners, I was constantly reminded of just how richly God has blessed me.
December 2017- December seemed to completely fly by, but then again, so did all of 2017! I wrapped up my semester at Ivy Tech and successfully survived my first college classes! I had a great Christmas surrounded by friends and family and I’m still sad about the fact that It’s over.
And that brings us to now! 2018…a brand new, never seen before year that holds so much. As we enter this new year, I want to share a few words of encouragement straight from me to you. Sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in the to-do-lists of a new year, but I want to challenge you to go into this new year ahead with an open mind, clear of all of the “new year, new me” hubbub. That’s not saying to not set goals for yourself, but rather to keep your goals attainable and to give yourself grace where you fall short. Don’t get caught up with the resolutions, but resolve to live a life that is full of love, passion, presence, and grace instead of dwelling on your shortcomings.
So here’s to a new year full of new experiences, new mistakes, and new moments. Here’s to two thousand and eighteen.
