Verse of The Week ~Isaiah 53:5~

In light of Easter last week, I think this verse is perfect. It really captures the true depth of Jesus’ death and resurrection, and it brings the reader a new appreciation of all that Christ has done for us.

But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.

Isaiah 53:5

Pierced, crushed, punished, wounded…..these are the words that are associated with the price Jesus paid for our eternal life in Him. My mind cannot even begin to wrap itself around just how much suffering our Lord went through to save us. Although we may know some pain here on Earth, I can tell you that our physical pain is nothing compared to the pain Jesus endured on the cross.

However, that’s not the most powerful part. The most powerful part is that He chose to suffer for us. He chose to suffer for sinful people like you and me. You see, even though He knew it would be miserable, Jesus saw past the pain to the point of each and every one of our brokenness, and still chose to be the sacrifice. He knew the hurt, but He also knew the healing that would result. When Jesus gave his life on that day so long ago, He gave life to everyone. He gave life to the sinner, the addict, the depressed, the broken, and the imperfect. He gave life, despite the pain.❤️
